The Shark Tank Pitch

Teenage entrepreneurship found a creative outlet when Mark Lin launched Sliimey Honey, a gourmet designer slime business that creates premium scented slimes styled to look and smell exactly like food - from banana milk to chocolate - without being edible. Mark started the business around 2018 from his mother's garage, initially selling through Etsy before building his own website and a devoted social media following of 900,000 TikTok fans drawn to the visually satisfying weekly 'drop' releases.

Each jar costs $2–4 to produce from glue, borax, and essential oils, and retails for $10–16, generating strong margins across over 100 distinct varieties. At the time of taping Mark was 17 years old and about to head to UCLA; he had hired 11 high school friends to help fulfill orders across lifetime sales of approximately $1.2 million, including $580,000 in 2021 and $540,000 in the first part of 2022 alone with $300,000 in profit.

When Mark entered Shark Tank seeking $150,000 for 10% equity at a $1.5 million valuation, he brought proof of a self-built, highly profitable youth-led brand with genuine viral traction and demonstrated demand far beyond a hobbyist side project.

Where Are They Now?

Daymond John invested $150,000 for 20% equity - countering Mark Lin's original ask of 10% - recognizing the remarkable achievement of a 17-year-old building a million-dollar slime brand from his garage. Daymond publicly celebrated the deal on Twitter, writing: 'At 17 years old in his moms garage, Mark Lin SOLD me!' The Shark Tank airing immediately sold out Sliimey Honey's inventory as demand surged far beyond what the garage operation could handle.

Mark subsequently moved production to a 3,000 square foot warehouse and began negotiations with major retailers including Walmart and Target. By mid-2024, Sliimey Honey had grown to an estimated $5 million in annual revenue, making Mark Lin one of the most commercially successful young entrepreneurs in Shark Tank history.

The Sliimey Honey website continues releasing new gourmet slime varieties in weekly drops, maintaining the scarcity-driven community that first built the brand's cult following on TikTok.
