Nardo's Natural Details
Shark Tank Episode Details
The Shark Tank Pitch
The four Mastronardo brothers – Kyle, KJ, Danny, and DJ – arrived on Season 3 Episode 8 from Tampa, Florida with a business that was unconventional in its market positioning and genuinely effective in its formulations. Natural and organic skincare was a rapidly growing category, but it was dominated by brands marketed to women; the brothers had built a company focused on all-natural skincare products at a time when male grooming investment was only beginning to emerge as a commercially distinct segment.
The road to Nardo's Natural began with a kitchen accident: Kyle burned his hand while working on a cooking demonstration and discovered the remarkable efficacy of certain natural oils – coconut, jojoba, and others – when applied directly to damaged skin. He and his brothers formulated their own blends, tested thoroughly on themselves and their network, and built a portfolio of products including lotions, lip balms, beard oils, bug spray, and a pet wash, all using 100% naturally occurring ingredients and packaged with deliberately clean, spare design.
The $9 billion organic beauty market they targeted represented a genuine opportunity, and their guerrilla marketing instinct – including a beefcake calendar they sold to fund their early farmers market appearances – demonstrated creative brand-building sensibility. They had secured placement in Tampa-area spas and were selling directly through their website with real momentum.
Seeking $75,000 for 12% equity at a $625,000 valuation, they impressed Barbara Corcoran enough to earn an offer: $75,000 for 50% equity, giving her a majority stake in exchange for her retail relationships and marketing expertise to carry the brand from a regional success to a national consumer story.
Where Are They Now?
After securing Barbara's investment, Nardo's Natural continued operating and expanding their organic skincare line. Tragically, brother Keith (KJ) Mastronardo died in a motorcycle accident in March 2013, a devastating loss the family has honored by continuing to build the brand he helped create.
The remaining brothers maintained their commitment to natural ingredients and local Tampa manufacturing, staying true to their "keeping it real" philosophy. They developed additional products beyond their initial line of lotions, lip balms, bug spray, and pet wash, all containing 100% naturally available ingredients.
The business has survived and continues operating with an active website offering facial care, bath & body products, age-defying premium care, and cosmetics. They maintain social media presence across multiple platforms and continue to emphasize their Shark Tank success story, though specific current revenue figures are not publicly disclosed.
