The Shark Tank Pitch

Mark and Hanna Lim appeared on Shark Tank Season 3, Episode 12, which aired on April 27, 2012, seeking $100,000 for 15% of Lollacup. Their toddler straw cup grew out of Hanna's experience with their daughter: she could drink through an ordinary straw but struggled with the spill-proof valves in other toddler cups.

The Lims wanted a product that was easier to drink from and clean, with a distinctive bird-shaped lid and a design that appealed to parents as well as children. Lollacup's key features were a valve-free straw and a weighted end that helped keep the straw in the liquid when the cup tilted.

The handles could be removed to fit the cup into a cup holder or diaper bag. The founders also emphasized American manufacturing during their pitch. A pitch recap we found online records $30,000 in sales over four months.

Importantly, their solution was not a new spill-proof valve: it deliberately omitted that valve, trading spill protection for easier sipping. Lollaland's own FAQ explicitly says the cup is not spill-proof.

The negotiation became a contest over ownership, manufacturing, and the founders' sales-agency arrangement. Kevin O'Leary proposed an offer that required offshore production, while other Sharks weighed in with competing terms.

Mark Cuban put the couple on a 24-second clock, and Daymond John later offered a lower equity percentage than the 40% under discussion. The Lims nevertheless wanted Cuban and Robert Herjavec together.

The televised agreement was $100,000 for 40% in total, split into $50,000 for 20% from each Shark.

Where Are They Now?

Lollacup's Shark Tank story continued beyond the televised handshake. On Lollaland's official company-history page, Hanna and Mark Lim confirm that they partnered with Mark Cuban and Robert Herjavec and describe the company's growth after the show.

Their decision in the Tank was not simply to accept the offer asking for the least equity: they specifically sought the two Sharks together, despite a competing offer from Daymond John. The on-air deal gave Cuban and Herjavec 20% each for a combined $100,000 investment; those original terms do not establish their ownership percentages today.

An early follow-up we found online described nearly three weeks of post-show shipping from the Lims' garage, followed by a move into a warehouse with shipping help. The business expanded from its original cup into the broader Lollaland brand.

Its official catalog includes children's dinnerware, glass baby bottles, play mats, and accessories alongside Lollacup. Availability varies by item, so a category listing should not be taken to mean every product is currently in stock.

As checked in September 2026, approximately fourteen years after the episode aired, Lollaland still offers the original weighted-straw cup through its official store. This is a verified product-availability update, not a claim about current sales volume or profitability.

American manufacturing remains part of the original cup's story. The current Lollacup product page says the cup is molded, assembled, and shipped from California.

That claim applies specifically to Lollacup and should not be generalized to every item sold by Lollaland. The practical design trade-off also remains important for buyers: the cup has no spill-proof valve.

The company says this makes it easier to sip through and clean, but explicitly warns that it is not spill-proof. Replacement straws and removable handles are part of the product's continuing accessory and maintenance options.

An August 2023 report we found online estimated annual revenue at $2 million. We are identifying that figure as a dated third-party estimate, not an audited result or a verified 2026 revenue number.

The stronger current evidence is the founders' account of their Shark partnerships, the expansion into Lollaland, and the continuing availability of the original cup. We have not independently verified a current annual sales total.
