Shark Tank Episode Details
The Shark Tank Pitch
Jill Quillin pitched Lipstick Remix, an innovative lipstick recycling kit that allowed women to recover wasted lipstick (typically 1/3 of each tube) and create new custom shades, seeking $105,000 for 30% equity on Season 1. Her system enabled users to extract unused lipstick from tubes and remix colors in under 10 minutes.
Barbara Corcoran praised the concept as "so clever" and noted the excitement of creating new lipsticks. After some sharks declined, Quillin secured a rare joint deal with three Sharks - Daymond John, Kevin Harrington, and Barbara Corcoran - who collectively offered $105,000 for 50% equity.
She accepted this unprecedented three-way partnership.
Where Are They Now?
The three-Shark deal never closed, but Lipstick Remix initially performed well in the market. Quillin successfully sold her kits and built a customer base who appreciated the product's functionality and cost-saving benefits.
However, in 2013, she posted disappointing news on social media announcing her difficult decision to stop selling kits due to business challenges. Despite the product's clever design and positive customer reception, the lipstick recycling business ultimately couldn't sustain long-term operations.
Quillin retired from the beauty industry, and the innovative concept disappeared from the market despite its potential.
